Thequesters, as much as I love the new ballparks, I don't like the idea of taxpayers funding them. I agree it doesn't help baseball's image. If the Giants can pay for their own ballpark I don't see why no other team can.

In baseball it started with Camden Yards, or more specifically when the Colts left Baltimore partly because the city wouldn't build them a new facility. Camden Yards was built with a lottery, which is less offensive to me, but since then ballparks have been built with hotel, restaurant, and rental car taxes and such. So when you rent a car in some cities there's a big stadium tax attached to the price.

I suppose there are worse things that taxpayer money is spent on (and I'm not going any further down that road), but that doesn't make it right.

I know most of us will travel to Miami to take the Marlins stadium off our lists but does anybody else feel that the way this particular stadium deal went down is bringing all of baseball down with it?

I am looking forward to the new ballpark in Miami and the Opening Day Game! I was there for their first game ever in 1993 and then this past September for their last game as the Florida Marlins. It should be a blast!

I totally forgot to join this group when I finished my 30 stadiums in September. Looking forward to getting out to Miami at some point this season.

I just found this site.  I didn't know there were so many people with my same obsession!  And to think that most of my friends think I'm crazy!  Oh well, now I'm waiting somewhat impatiently for the new Marlin stadium.

Awesome Paul, this is going to be huge, we have many MLB reps that are interested in reviewing it and interviews will follow after wards..

Martin, the latest on Oakland is shown on the link below:

This was five days ago. Without a move out of Oakland, there is little hope.

I am looking forward to the Marlins new Ballpark in 2012, and going to neutral sites is a good idea. Thanks for the tip!

Best regards,

Emilio
