WHERE TO PARK?

If you stay at a hotel other than those suggested above and are forced to drive to the park, the Texas Rangers offer general cash parking on the North and East sides of the ballpark for $15.  Valet parking runs $40 and if you drive a Lexus to the ballpark, valet parking is free!

WHERE TO EAT?

Bobby V’s Sports Gallery Café is our top pick for local restaurants in the Arlington city limits. Although it is roughly a 20 minute drive from Globe Life Park, Bobby Valentine’s sports bar is covered with sports memorabilia and televisions and is definitely worth the trip.
The Arlington Steak House has been serving since 1931 and is Ballpark Chasers favorite locally owned restaurant in Arlington, Texas. Just five miles from the ballpark, this steak house is famous for making meals from scratch and refusing to use microwaves. Oh yeah, the chicken fried steak is to die for – don’t miss out.

For the best burgers in town (or maybe the country), check out Twisted Root Burger Company or Chop House Burgers. Both are hailed by locals and are a close drive from the ballpark.

For some classic country cooking, head over to Babe's Chicken Dinner House. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu; however, our favorite meal is the Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and buttermilk biscuits. But a trip to Babe's isn't complete until you have a slice of their "scratch made" pies.

If you haven't experienced a Fuzzy's Taco Shop, now is your chance. It's close to the ballpark, has great prices and can be a quick bite before the game. Stop by to see why their tacos are so addicting!

Inside Globe Life Park, the Center Field Sports Park offers a new restaurant for the 2012 season. The "Captain Morgan Club" is a great option for a a pre-game meal and to mingle with the local Ranger fans. Located behind left-field, this sports bar provides a great view of the entire field. As far as the concession stands, the Rangers offer a number of delicious options for all appetites. Ballpark Chasers favorites include: Turkey Legs (section 16 & 34), Hickory Smoked Sausage, chopped brisket sandwich, Mexican tapas and Frito pie hot dogs. If you are feeling really brave, check out the Rangers new "Champion Dog'. This nearly two-foot long wiener will set you back a measly $26. For dessert, make sure you leave room for a warm cinnamon roll found only outside of section 10.

WHERE TO BUY TICKETS?

As the Texas Rangers continue to win on the field, their ballpark attendance continues to rise. The Rangers finished in the top third of Major League baseball attendance during their 2012 season. For this reason, we highly recommend to purchase tickets ahead of time through the Rangers website or with your favorite online ticket broker. The best deals are on Wednesdays and Fridays at Globe Life Park. Tuesday games tickets are half price if bought through the Rangers website (valid for seats in the upper reserved, upper box, club terrace and lower reserved sections). Where as Fridays, fans pay just $15 for upper reserved tickets and get to see an incredible firework show following the game.

Ballpark Chasers Alert: selling tickets outside of Globe Life Park is illegal and undercover police officers are there to make sure of it. Therefore, don’t count on easily finding scalpers as you would for most other Major League Baseball ballparks.

WHEN TO GO?

The summer months in Arlington are hotter than hot! Temperatures average in the 90s during June, July and August. If you prefer milder temperatures, Ballpark Chasers suggest planning your trip to Arlington in April or early May.

WHAT ELSE TO SEE?

Say goodbye to the Legends of the Game Baseball Museum and say hello to the Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame. This new feature replaces the old museum and is found at the same right-field location. The exhibit contains plaques, photos and memorabilia from the Rangers Hall of Fame crew along with various artifacts from the franchise's history. The Rangers Baseball HOF is open to fans free of charge during every home game.

Another fun option is right next to Globe Life Park. Six Flags over Texas Amusement Park is a must for those who enjoy roller coasters. Six Flags is home of “The Texas Giant”, which happens to be the tallest wooden roller coaster in the world, measuring 14 stories high with speeds up to 62 mph!

Would you have guessed that Arlington is home to the International Bowling Hall of Fame? Did you know that bowling is one of the largest participatory sports in the world? Neither did we! The International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame collects, preserves and exhibits the 5,000-year history of bowling through artifacts, rare photos, vintage film clips and fun interactive games.

BALLPARK CHASERS VACATION?

Globe Life Park is part of Ballpark Chasers “Texas Dos” Vacation which includes seeing the Astros at Minute Maid Park. We suggest searching for flights to both cities to determine which airfare is the cheapest. Expect a four hour drive (256 miles) between ballparks, with heavy traffic in both directions.

If you are a fan of Minor League Baseball, the state of Texas provides several parks to choose from. The closest ballpark from Arlington is Dr. Pepper Ballpark. The Frisco RoughRiders are the Double-A affiliate of the Rangers and are within an hours drive of Globe Life Park. This is one Minor League ballpark not to miss as they have received a number of awards as being a top-tier stadium. Citibank Ballpark, home of the Midland Rockhounds, Round Rock Express and the San Antonio Missions are other great options to see while in Texas. All ballparks are spread across the state of Texas, so make sure you get a good rental car that has a working air conditioner for your time on the road.
