Scott -- That's a lot of fun. As part of my previous trips I've hit Cedar Point, Six Flags (LA and Denver), Great America, Knotts, and Disneyland. I'm always looking for ways to interest my wife in my baseball trips by finding things she'd want to d…

Great shot. I wish the roof had been open when I was there, even though it was really hot and humid. They should open it at dusk during games.

All about the "L", Paul. If you fly into O'Hare, they have a station attached to the airport that will take you into the city and to both parks. I would recommend not renting a car for your time in Chicago. Walking the city is great. Work it so that…

I'm sitting here enjoying Major League, which I always find myself digging out at this time of year. The fact that I'm heading to Cleveland in April makes the movie that much more fun. There've been countless posts over the years about which basebal…

Watching Major League, perfect for Spring Training time and getting geared for my April trip to Cleveland. Shit! I been cut already?!

If it's anything like the last two year's, the host team will have a link to pre-register for an opportunity to buy tickets. They'll have an electronic drawing from the emails, and those people will get links to buy via link. You won't see them actu…

My daughter saw an old picture of McGwire this morning and said "He must eat all his vegetables." How do you explain steroids to a 6yr old?

Sounds like a fun trip! I'm just confused by why you wouldn't just do both the 28th and 29th games! Although, Vegas is always fun too. And, there's always the 51's, that just happen to be in town that weekend. Funny thing about tickets, is I'm thin…

Doug - gonna hold you to that, cause you're right, I kinda did :) Then again, the trip with Chuck might fall through, so I dunno just yet what I will be doing for sure this summer... hope to know by mid to late March.

Going back to Tuscon, going back where things went wrong... (song by the Supersuckers). Have fun down there, it should be fun! I wish I was heading that way too.

Pitchers and Catchers report, and I make my plane reservations for Detroit! More planning to come!

Ken - Heck, you'd already booked the whole summer by the time we had dinner! :) We'll have to look at schedules this next year. I'm debating about the HOF. I have 2 Tigers games planned, but I could just as easy trim one to hit Toronto a day earlie…

Ditto - Give yourself three times as much time than the Louisville Slugger Museum (I didn't particularly enjoy my tour there) but loved Cooperstown (and I, of course, did not plan for enough time there). Check out Doubleday Field while you are there…

I agree, give yourself a lot of time at the Hall--at least 4-5 hours. The museum is a big time capsule of baseball history, and when you get into the Hall itself you will want to read every single plaque. If anyone is going with you who isn't a base…

Baseball Movies/Shows (TV Is Missing A Big Opportunity!)

I'm sitting here enjoying Major League, which I always find myself digging out at this time of year. The fact that I'm heading to Cleveland in April makes the movie that much more fun. There've been countless posts over the years about which baseball movie is the best. Which one is your favorite? Which one is the most realistic? Who's the best baseball actor in a movie? Really the list goes on and on. The thing I've really noticed over the years though is that TV is missing a giant opportunity.… Continue

Road Trip Options -- HOF?

I'm working on finalizing this year's trip. I have it down to 2 itineraries, both packed to the gills (per normal). Question I'd ask is who's been to Cooperstown? How long did you spend there? Was it long enough? What do you think the perfect amount of time to spend there is? I think I spent a good 2-3hrs at the Slugger Museum in Louisville.

Road Trip Option #1 (7 games in 4 days, 2 states, 2 countries)

4/27 - Fly out 11pm

4/28 - Arrive in Detroit at 6am. 11:35 ga

Dang!

Argh! I've been looking for this baseball for close to 7 years, and this is literally the first one I have ever seen on eBay. The only reason I knew it even existed was because the Opening Day ball for the NL just had the red stitching and year so I asked a ball dealer about it. (Who also has not seen one in a long time.) I started with my All Star ball, and an Opening Day 2002, then I just picked them up each year if I was at the actual event. I only buy balls for an event I'm at -- Opening Day… Continue

Travel Journals/Diaries?

Seeing Tim's post about his Ticket Journal website had me wondering. How many of you keep a journal or diary while you're on the road?

A few years back I decided to start keeping a journal on my baseball road trips. I bought a few 4x6"-ish leather backs at Target. I remembered always writing in one when we went camping as a family when I was younger. At the time, it all seemed pretty tedious because the entries didn't have a lot of variety. Camping was still mostly camping wherever we went, my… Continue

My favorite line from Major League is "You want me to drag him outta here and kick the shit outta him?" :)

Rough break on the Opening Day stuff. Great thing about baseball...there's always next season. And still probably preferable to not being able to pay the bills!

My wife just rolled her eyes when that t-shirt came in the mail. I got it here: Zazzle - Historic Ballparks of Baseball. The guy who draws the illustrations there has a website at Historic Ballparks.com. His work is also featured on the cover recent edition of the book "Green Cathedrals."
