So far, a place I found to stay in San Francisco was Hotel Griffon with Bay View King room. and in Seattle I found Silver Cloud hotel with water view King room.

I am thinking BART is best way to get from SF airport to the hotel.

Then using the Link Light Rail from Seattle airport to the hotel.

Both hotels are within walking distance of the ball parks. (I think)

Do any of you have any advice of anything better that you have experienced or do these options sound ok?
Planning my BIG summer!tag:www.ballparkchasers.com,2022-05-19:1681163:BlogPost:3257772022-05-19T00:18:38.000ZMatthew Gardnerhttps://www.ballparkchasers.com/profile/MatthewGardner

This summer, my best friend is finally coming out to Topeka, KS to visit. I moved out here about a year ago for a girl. 9 months later, guess who is single? Living close to a Baseball stadium has always been a must for me. It used to be Safeco Field (Now T-Mobile Park), and now I have Kauffman Stadium as my go-to ballpark. Well, my first trip there wasn't great, and I actually didn't ever plan on going back, that's how bad it was. But my friend convinced me to try it again, and the second time around, it wasn't too bad.

So alas, we reach the meat and potatoes. I started college after moving here, as a 30 year old freshman. 30 ballparks in 30 days is the end goal, but I don't mind crossing off a few along the way, so here we go.

Starting with the Dodgers @ Royals on 8/12, my best friend and I will be going to 3 games in 3 cities, in 3 days. Saturday will be the Brewers @ Cardinals, and Sunday will be the longest day, as we leave STL Sunday morning, and have to drive 7 hours, and a time zone away to make it to Cincinnati by 1:40 for a game against the cubs. After dropping him off at the airport on Monday morning, I'll attempt to hightail it up to Milwaukee for a 7pm game against the Dodgers. From there, I'll either spend a couple days in WI and watch the Dodgers, or head a couple south to the windy city and split the days between the Sox and Cubs. After that, I'll head North and watch the Twins take on the Rangers (as well as pay my respects to a fallen brother who lives a couple hours from there), before heading back home to Topeka on Sunday to start my Fall Semester at school on Tuesday.

All said and done, I'll travel >2200 miles in 9 days, see 8 (hopefully 9) games in 7 stadiums in 6 cities. A great practice run for 30 in 30, I think.
Seattle here we cometag:www.ballparkchasers.com,2022-03-26:1681163:BlogPost:3254182022-03-26T15:29:20.000ZClaire Husseyhttps://www.ballparkchasers.com/profile/ClaireHussey

Hi all,

Do people still use this forum, or just post to the chasers FB page? Anyway, I know many have a "sour taste" from this year's Collective Bargaining lock-out. I had planned to attend the Final Four in New Orleans this year, so was really hoping to attend a few baseball stadiums on the same trip. Now that can happen. My friend and I will be attending, and already have tickets for these games:

We have plans to hit 3 parks on the east coast (from Arizona) in June....what's everyone thinking? Should I cancel the trip while I can probably get my money back? Do you think MLB will even play this year? I know everything will be speculation up to this point but I'm anxious. I personally think, and I think I've heard this on ESPN, is that they will try to make up as many games as they have missed with double headers. I don't know how that would affects tickets I have in June....

The new three batter minimum presents several problems. What if a pitcher just doesn't have it? I can see a three pitch minimum. Three batters is different. Maybe it causes extra intentional walks? Do you bring in a player to pitch and move the previous pitcher in the outfield for one batter? Who knows?

No 7th inning orange wedges here. It's time to bring back the real intentional walk. There is simply too much that can happen in a pro baseball situation to have a rule that allows someone to be waived on to first base. A wild pitch can allow a runner to move up. An accidental pitch across the plate can be hit out of the ballpark. Let's play big boy baseball.

I'm planning on visiting Kansas City this summer for the Indians games in early June. Do they allow tailgating in the parking lots outside of Kauffman? It doesn't look like there are many bars/restaurants to walk to before the game, but I might be completely wrong.

As it was, I had no regrets handing the ball over to son, who was suitably awed. Bonus in fall--World Series opener!

2011: Heavy-duty travel in July. Twelve days, flights all over the South and East, and 8 games. SF-CHI WS-(plane stop in Kansas City, more about that later)-Texas-St. Louis-PHL-DC-ATL-Tampa Bay-Miami-SF. Highlight day: wake up in Washington, drive to Baltimore, fly to Atlanta for a game, fly on to Tampa. Son gets tired of people telling him how lucky he is. Father gets tired of sitting in the stands in 90+ degree weather day after July day.

2012: Hitting our stride: SF-DEN-MIL-BAL-BOS-NY Mets-PIT-CH Cubs-MPLS/ST PAUL-SF 8 games in 8 cities in 8 days! Son gets very tired of hearing about 8-8-8, even more tired of hearing about how lucky he is, also gets out of middle school. Another bonus: World Series opener again

2013: Short trip during spring break to hot cities. Opening day in Houston followed by opening day in Phoenix. Blew all of our flyer miles on SW Airlines, but worth it. Weather very nice. Bunus when back at home: Finally got Mad Bum to sign our ball from LA. By now he's famous and it costs many pennies to get his autograph at our local fan shop (H/T to Lefty's in Burlingame, CA)

2014: Slowing down, just four games. SF-NY Yankees-Cleveland-DET-Cinci-SF. Scary moment: large tipsy Cinci fan comes up and gives father a big hug … what? Just wanted to be friendly, but still….

2015: Just one, SEA vs OAK, last game of the season. High point of trip: my 12-yr great-niece (coming to meet us there with her mom) on the street outside, coming up from behind unannounced and snuggling against me repeatedly, scaring me to death (what if the police were watching and got the wrong idea?) Another high point: Seeing the last MLB appearance of the one and only José Canseco, out in the bullpen warming up as a pitcher at age 51 and hoping forlornly for one last chance to be in The Show.

2016: Son graduates from HS, Toronto on the way to son's college in NY state. Highly bittersweet moment of course, taking son to college, a feeling a lot of fathers know only too well.

2017: NO GAMES.

(if you've been keeping track, you know that makes 29 out of 30, the missing city being...Kansas City, the place where we just sat on the plane in 2011!)

2018: Father has a stroke! Paralyzed up and down the entire right side of his body!!

2019: So now what, fellow chasers/fanatics? Even if son is still willing to take a big detour to or from college, even if father is up to it, the wheelchair seats in KC are at the back of the sections.

Lessons learned (so far)
* It's great fun
* It's impossible to see most other sights as you flit in for a game, then flit out again
* It is fun to get your boarding passes for tomorrow’s fight once you arrive in a new city
* It’s great to meet old friends and relatives along the way, though, especially if they can go to a game with you.
* It takes great concentration and planning to organize multi-city trips. 30 games in 30 days has to be a real nightmare, unless you have a private jet at your disposal. Also: your son will REALLY hate hearing about 30-30.

* Our favorite park is our very own SF, where you're on the SF Bay as well as in the game. Pittsburgh for the same reason.
* Gather ye rosebuds while you may. I'm lucky to be alive, and I'm grateful, but we may never get to KC now.
Clever +1tag:www.ballparkchasers.com,2019-08-03:1681163:BlogPost:2796632019-08-03T01:35:27.000ZRussellhttps://www.ballparkchasers.com/profile/Russell

Earlier this month we launched a giveaway where one lucky person was destined to win a free baseball stadium map. In return, each contestant filled out a short survey that was meant to shed light into their ballpark experiences.

From favorite stadiums to favorite memories, we learned a lot about what makes a baseball stadium more than just a physical location.

Perhaps this is because the Cubs hold numerous records; they are the first team to ever play in three consecutive World Series and the first team to win two consecutive World Series. More recently, they won the 2016 World Series and ended a 108 year championship drought, the longest in MLB history.

Starting in the 2015 off season, the Chicago Cubs started to upgrade Wrigley Field and began selling removed seats (in pairs of two) as sports memorabilia. In fact, I recently attended a wedding where a large group of us purchased a pair of these seats for the bride and groom as a wedding gift! The groom is a die hard Cubs fan and he was left speechless once he saw the gift.

The next most popular team was the New York Yankees, as per our voters. The Yankees commanded 14% of the total vote, followed by the San Francisco Giants at 9%.

Oracle Park is the new name of the San Francisco Giants stadium (as of 2019) but many people will always remember this location as AT&T Park.
In 2004, AT&T Park was the first professional sports venue in the United States to support public wifi throughout the entire stadium. At the time it claimed to be "one of the biggest public hotspots in the world."

We asked each person to name their favorite experience from a ballpark and we received some interesting responses.

Let's start out with a funny one. To quote one person, their favorite memory was when "A Dodgers fan threw her drink on me." I think it's safe to say that this person is a Giant's fan!

How about some sentimental memories: "First game when I was a kid. Walking inside the park took my breath away. Fell in love with it." Another response reads,"Flying to New York to attend both a Yankees game and a Mets game on back to back nights with my dad."

We even received a response from someone who worked at the Guaranteed Rate Field! They said, "Working there for four years remodeling various parts of the ballpark."

Another person who has been to over 20 baseball stadiums wrote, "I buy a baseball from every stadium." That's a lot of baseballs!

The above photo comes from a respondent who said, "Taking photos and buying a hat from every new stadium that I go to."

Other people like to recollect their experiences through ticket stubs, shirts, or take-home cups. This just goes to show that there is more than one way to relive the ballpark experience.
