Where will I end up this year Ballpark wise.....

The only stadiums I see myself getting to this year are:

PNC Park - I have plans the 1st week of June to see the Bucs and Mets

Citizens Bank Ballpark - Friends in Philly and since I have never been I must go!

Tropicana Field - Only if the Rays are in the playoffs will I get a chance, since I wont be in Tampa/St Pete until 10/12 for a week

New Yankee Stadium - May 18th vs Baltimore

Nationals Park - I want to go, just to hang out in DC!

so that would add… Continue

Old Busch Stadium's Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum -- a nice place to bowl

The Cardinals had a wonderful Hall of Fame in the lower levels of the old Busch Stadium. It later moved it across the street into the National Bowling Hall of Fame.

I suspect this was because the bowling hall lacked visitors. In fact, the bowling hall packed up and headed to Texas in November. A new Cards museum is expected to be a part of a new development across from the new stadium, should the retail-office-residential complex get built.

But all was good back in 1993… Continue

The Mets officially open Citi Field

The Mets officially opened Citi Field last night and I was there to participate in the festivities. If you are interested in my experiences, they can be found at "Citi Field is Now Officially Open". I'd also like to hear from any Mets fans that have visited Citi Field and what they think about the new home of the Mets - I express my opinions in "OK Mets Fans -… Continue

My Favorite Yankee Stadium Memory

I grew up a Mets fan in a Yankees household. I'm the youngest of three, and my older brother and father are both huge Yankees fans. I think the little brother mentality is why I associate more closely with the Mets, who have always played second fiddle in the Big Apple. Despite my allegiances, I'm a baseball fan first. I never turned down tickets to a Yankees game, because I knew I was very fortunate to grow up just an hour from the Colesium of baseball.

I got to maybe 15-20 Yankees… Continue

Cincinnati

Over the first week of the season, my wife graciously let me drive up to Cincinnati to catch a couple of Mets/Reds games at Great American Ballpark for my 3rd anniversary. It might be the only park I'll end up getting to in 2009 considering it is the closest MLB city to Atlanta (Tampa is the other one and I've already been to that) and my schedule is up in the air. Next year it's either the Cell or Kauffman.

The funny part is, when it comes to new stadiums and these "reviews" I have… Continue

Cincinnati - Here we come

We'll be at Great American Ballpark on Sunday. We're really looking forward to seeing Cincinnati, but there will be a little detour to Louisville for a Bats game on Friday and the Louisville Slugger Museum on Saturday.

Do you go to the ballpark to watch the game?

Well, as I said in my last post, I have started a blog, Roger's Baseball Blog, with the intent of sharing baseball experiences. I think of myself of more of a baseball traditionalist and in that vein, my latest post, "My first opinion piece - why do you go to a baseball game?" intends to spark some discussion about the focus of a visit to the ballpark. Take a look and… Continue

Down to one again

Thanks to my second visit to Citi Field (I also went to the Georgetown/St. John's game on March 29) my magic number is back down to one. Of course, it was just an exhibition game, but I'll be there on Opening Day as well. I have a new favorite stadium in Citi Field which is a great place to see a game, if not expensive. Sure it doesn't have the view of PNC and AT&T nor the history of Wrigley and Fenway but Citi Field is now at the top of my list (OK it could be partly due to the fact that… Continue
