The Mets officially open Citi Field

The Mets officially opened Citi Field last night and I was there to participate in the festivities. If you are interested in my experiences, they can be found at "Citi Field is Now Officially Open". I'd also like to hear from any Mets fans that have visited Citi Field and what they think about the new home of the Mets - I express my opinions in "OK Mets Fans -… Continue

My Favorite Yankee Stadium Memory

I grew up a Mets fan in a Yankees household. I'm the youngest of three, and my older brother and father are both huge Yankees fans. I think the little brother mentality is why I associate more closely with the Mets, who have always played second fiddle in the Big Apple. Despite my allegiances, I'm a baseball fan first. I never turned down tickets to a Yankees game, because I knew I was very fortunate to grow up just an hour from the Colesium of baseball.

I got to maybe 15-20 Yankees… Continue

Cincinnati

Over the first week of the season, my wife graciously let me drive up to Cincinnati to catch a couple of Mets/Reds games at Great American Ballpark for my 3rd anniversary. It might be the only park I'll end up getting to in 2009 considering it is the closest MLB city to Atlanta (Tampa is the other one and I've already been to that) and my schedule is up in the air. Next year it's either the Cell or Kauffman.

The funny part is, when it comes to new stadiums and these "reviews" I have… Continue

Cincinnati - Here we come

We'll be at Great American Ballpark on Sunday. We're really looking forward to seeing Cincinnati, but there will be a little detour to Louisville for a Bats game on Friday and the Louisville Slugger Museum on Saturday.

Do you go to the ballpark to watch the game?

Well, as I said in my last post, I have started a blog, Roger's Baseball Blog, with the intent of sharing baseball experiences. I think of myself of more of a baseball traditionalist and in that vein, my latest post, "My first opinion piece - why do you go to a baseball game?" intends to spark some discussion about the focus of a visit to the ballpark. Take a look and… Continue

Down to one again

Thanks to my second visit to Citi Field (I also went to the Georgetown/St. John's game on March 29) my magic number is back down to one. Of course, it was just an exhibition game, but I'll be there on Opening Day as well. I have a new favorite stadium in Citi Field which is a great place to see a game, if not expensive. Sure it doesn't have the view of PNC and AT&T nor the history of Wrigley and Fenway but Citi Field is now at the top of my list (OK it could be partly due to the fact that… Continue

Greetings

Glad to see there's a whole site for ballpark enthusiasts! My friends are going to travel, by car only, to all 30 ballparks in 30 days, and make a documentary about the whole thing. They leave in mid April, and the first game they are going to is at the new Citi Field. Much of the money they raise from the DVD will go to The Boys and Girls Club of American. Check out the website:

My Trip to Nationals Park

It was a Saturday afternoon, and I was in Greenbelt, Maryland on some business that never took place, due to circumstances that were apparently way beyond my control. So, with my business plans for the day up in smoke, I decided to take the rest of the day, and go sightseeing. One of the places I knew that I wanted to go was to Nationals Park, being that Washington, D.C. was only 15 minutes from where I was in Greenbelt. So, off I went to see one of the newer ballparks in MLB, at the tender age… Continue

Robison Field - St. Louis

Robison Field was the home of the St. Louis Cardinals from 1893-1920. The site is just a few blocks from where Sportsman's Park (there four on the same site) was located at and sits just a couple miles north of downtown St. Louis. On the site today is Beaumont High School (pictured).

I was recently in Indianapolis… Continue

Tiger Stadium seats available for purchase!

S&S Seating, Inc. is making our limited inventory of historic Tiger Stadium seats available for purchase!

We have three types of seats available: Blue plastic, Orange plastic and the rare Tiger Den seats. In the original auction in 2007, only the blue seats and the Tiger Den seats were made available for purchase. The 200 Tiger Den seats sold out within 3 hours. The hard to find Orange seats were not made available to the general public. If you missed out in 2007, now is your… Continue

Huntington Avenue Grounds - Boston

(I will try to periodically update this blog with a profile of a lost ballpark site that I've been to)

Huntington Avenue Grounds in Boston is a conveniently located, easy-to-find, and notable lost ballpark site.

It was home to the Boston Red Sox from 1901-1911 and hosted the first modern World Series game in… Continue

Lost Ballparks

I have added a Lost Ballparks map that includes the sites of 44 Lost Ballparks I have visited (Braves Field in Boston pictured at left).

It doesn't look like there are that many on the map, but if you zoom in, they're all there. With many of the sites there were multiple ballparks on the same piece of property (Sportsman's Parks I-IV for… Continue

Passing Time in the Winter, Waiting for Opening Day

How to pass the dreary and cold winter days? Thinking about baseball of course, that's how!

I've been busy looking at online schedules, planning, and repeating that over and over. Trying to figure out the right baseball trip for Summer 2009!

I just discovered Ballpark Chasers yesterday, what a great concept for a ballpark site! There are so many ballpark sites that are the same. Chasers is unique!
