DH In National League May Lead to Other Changes

The designated hitter was instituted in the American League in 1973. The rule, that lets a position player hit in place of the pitcher, was the brainchild of notorious Chicago White Sox owner Bill Veeck.*

If the Designated Hitter comes to the National League in 2017, I predict position players will be allowed to re-enter games by 2020. If those things become reality, the active roster limit should remain at 25 players to keep some strategy in the game.

Pete Rose: His Un-American Actions are Costing Him a Second Chance

Pete Rose has been banned from Major League Baseball for more than 25 years now. I think there is one very simple reason why the all-time hits leader {4,256 for his career} hasn't been let back into the game. America is known as the "land of second chances," and, if Rose had come clean to Bart Giamatti – admitting that he committed the number one sports sin by betting on his sport – he would've ended up serving something like a 10 year ban.

So it turns out that something that we are…

Unfair Equity: Rockies Fans Deserve More From Ownership

Rockies fans deserve more than what they've received from ownership for 22 seasons of loyal attendance in Denver. Colorado has had some magic baseball moments[1995 and 2007] in the last two decades, but, over the long haul, Rockies pitching has been substandard for MLB competition.

By now, it is well known that the Brothers Monfort and Jerry McMorris, were not the original ownership group that was going to lead the Rockies. The Rockies were going to be owned by a group led by…

30 ballbarks in 30 days

A lot of people ask if its possible and how they would go about and do it. I just got done achieving my 30 ballparks in 30 days in August 2014 as a solo trip. It took me 29days 1hr and 47mins. It was the best time ive ever had. I learned so much more about the game, stadiums, fans and the cities and states I travel thru. It was an unbelievable journey and I found a great deal of appreciation and love for the game! Highly recommend, I never wanted to see all 30 in 30 days, its never even…

At Last...All 30....All 30 MLB Teams, That Is !!!!

OK, so I haven't hit up all 30 MLB Parks yet. I will, eventually. Like the economy, my travel plans have hit the wall....for now . But this past Wednesday was a little personal milestone for me. Having seen the Royals play the Angels in Anaheim this past Wedensday, 5/15/2013, I can now officially say that I have seen all 30 MLB teams in action live !!! Another one of these "so-called" baseball fans bucket list of things I can now cross off. And it only took me 31 years to do this…

When it becomes too much: Minor Leagues

While my son and I were at our latest ballpark (Bowling Green Hot Rods) I remember a conversation I had with a couple of blokes in Beloit. I remember them telling me they had been to 354 baseball parks. Now I'm assuming that is college, summer leagues, minor etc all wrapped into one. But it got me thinking this past weekend,  when is it enough?

I was planning on stopping when I finally get to the magical 210 affiliated teams (Mexican League included) and the occasional…

The Great Baseball Race Blog

Hello Chasers,

As baseball fans all across the country, I wanted to share with you a personal project I'm working on this season, aside from hitting a few ballparks of course.

I call it the "Great Baseball Race" and with it, I track the ups and downs of the divisional races as a simple line graph. You can see the hot and cold streaks through the weeks and how far back 5.5 games really is.

I update it every Monday and would love for yall to check it out…

Marlins Park!

Well we finally made it to all 30 MLB with the opening of the Marlins new ballpark. First of all let me say, as everyone else has in Miami, "At least it has air conditioning!" I'm going to break up the review in several parts from family friendly parts, to not so family friendly, to areas I liked better than most and other areas of the ballpark.

My son and I were seated in the Clevelander area of the ballpark. I chose this area of the park because you can look right into bullpen of… Continue

Game Dates Set for Blind Baseball Traveler 30-30 Tour

Days after I wrote the update to my 30 ballpark, 30 day plan, things began to finally come together. I had to make a final set of schedule alterations, but the blind baseball traveler is now 55 days from the ultimate baseball dream.

I’ve managed to also make arrangements with a few teams so far to see the field, particularly in the outfield where the ballparks have their personality or lack thereof.

Seats for all but four teams have been purchased, with the Cubs, Nationals, and…

2009/2010 MLB Season

Dear Ballpark Chasers,

Baseball is finally in the air, but it feels like just yesterday that the New York Yankees inaugurated their new Yankee Stadium and then beat the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2009 World Series. Yankee Stadium was not the only new ballpark to open last season, or in New York for that matter. Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, also opened its doors.

The Florida Marlins and the Minnesota Twins also had some exciting ballpark activity in… Continue

Family's 30 MLB Ballpark tour benefits the Women’s Sports Foundation's GoGirlGo! Program

Roberto Coquis and Judy Pino visited all 30 MLB ballparks this summer with 8-month old baby, Sofia Coquis, in tow. They dubbed their tour "30 Ballparks and a Baby" and created a website documenting their experiences. During the tour they collected baseball memorabilia from MLB teams and supporters to be auctioned off for charity and have partnered with the Women's Sports Foundation's… Continue

Sox Break their trend...

After 14 years the Red Sox organization decided not to raise their ticket prices for the 2009 season. Fenway Park seats have been sold out for 469 consecutive games and were the most expensive ticket last season ($48.80 on average). What does this mean? Well, $125 can still buy you a field box ticket. Yippee. What a joke! With this shaky economy that our country is facing and the consistent support from the Red Sox fans, you would think the organization would provide some sort of break. But its… Continue
