Camden Yards

Ballpark #6

Oriole Park at Camden Yards was our favorite of the East Coast trip. It might have been how comfortable we were in orange and black or the fact that it was first of the “retro” ballparks. Lets say the granddad of AT&T Park.

We saw the Orioles vs Royals on Friday, May 25th 2012. 2012 was also the 20th…

Game Dates Set for Blind Baseball Traveler 30-30 Tour

Days after I wrote the update to my 30 ballpark, 30 day plan, things began to finally come together. I had to make a final set of schedule alterations, but the blind baseball traveler is now 55 days from the ultimate baseball dream.

I’ve managed to also make arrangements with a few teams so far to see the field, particularly in the outfield where the ballparks have their personality or lack thereof.

Seats for all but four teams have been purchased, with the Cubs, Nationals, and…

2011 Father's Day weekend at the O's vs. Nats (June 18 & 19)

June 18 & 19, 2011: What's better than a baseball game on Father's Day? Spending the Father’s Day weekend with your daughter at the ballpark.

Sofia and I spent Saturday and Sunday (mom joined us for the Father's Day game) at Nats Park to watch the Beltway Series. We had hoped to see the Nationals sweep the Orioles, but rather saw them split the games we…

Baltimore, MD (April 4, 2011) - 2011 Orioles Opening Day

Sofia just turned two a couple of months ago and today she attended to her first MLB Opening Day.

I knew this Opening Day experience was going to be unique. The weather in DC has finally started to warm up after some crazy spring snow fell last week. Sofia has been begging to go the park every day. This morning I asked her if she meant to say the baseball park and in she confirmed in spanish that yes she wanted to visit the baseball park: "parque...parque de beisbol!" (We are really… Continue

A Birthday Gift From The Orioles (from the Ballpark Insider blog)

Next Tuesday, I will be going somewhere I haven't been to in almost nine years--I will be attending a baseball game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

I won't go into detail, but when Cal Ripken Jr. retired, it kind of ended things for me as an Orioles fan. Once Cal was gone, it was as if the last link to their great past was severed. I guess I picked a good time to bail out, since the team has been painfully bad for years. I don't know if I could have handled a 30-3 drubbing at home.… Continue

Oriole Park at Camden Yards

I was driving from my parents home in Tennessee back to my home in Massachusetts, so I decided to overnight in Baltimore and take in a game (Aug 8, 2008). I used to live in Baltimore, so this was a homecoming for me. My two kids were with me and had a fantastic time at the game. My son has been to several games at Camden Yards (including one when he was two months old), but this was my daughter's first game. The fact that the Orioles beat the Rangers 9-1 made my son happy, while the fireworks… Continue
