My 2011 Minor League Baseball tour kicks off in Single-A fashion with the recently “newly” minted Winston-Salem Dash! This was an excellent afternoon game on a Sunday versus in-state rivals the Kinston Indians.

I cannot say that I was disappointed in my decision in kicking off in one of two minor league teams in the Triad of North Carolina. I was not expecting such a beautiful stadium for the Single A Advanced affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, the BB&T Ballpark for the Dash! And apparently it has been a huge success with the city as well – a community report has shown that the inaugural season a success for job creation, income, and investment!

But enough about that – let’s get onto the park!

The Park

The entrance from the outfield is definitely unique and spectacular for a minor league team. You can see the entirety of the field and park from your walk around the hill outside the park, and take in the majesty of the park as you enter underneath their scoreboard in right field.

The park sports a Single A rarity – a completely 360 degree walkable & viewable concourse. This will be an advantage once their new “Purple Bullpen Bar” opens up in left field. Which is snuggly propped under the children’s play hill (with inflatables) in right. I can see families really enjoying that area in the future.

More after the jump!
