I think we have decided to take a trip to the Los Angeles area in mid June and it looks to work out that we will be able to see the Dodgers at the beginning of the week and the Angels at the end of the week.

I have a couple of questions for anyone that lives in the area or is in the know:

1. Is there tailgating allowed in the parking lots at either stadium?

2. It looks like we may be staying in the Pasadena area - any recommendations for family-friendly hotels/resorts?

Thanks!

Hi John

Grew up a Dodgers fan, went to Dodger games all my young life.  No tailgating!

I assume you're renting a car? If you're looking for a cool place to eat in the area, unique to LA, try out Philippe The Original, located at 1001 N. Alameda St.  Fairly near the stadium.  Allow enough time, prepare for standing room only.  (Check out the website)

Became an Angels fan later in my life because I took the kids there so often when they were little (very kid friendly, this stadium).  Tailgating allowed.

Pasadena is a great area.  Colorado Blvd is the main drag; anywhere near there would be nice as you would have access to many stores and restaurants.

Weather should be great when you come! :)

Awesome - thanks for the info Ashley, Glen, Freddy and Ernie!

Freddy - are the bars/restaurants you mentioned kid friendly? I'll have my wife and boys (12 and 10) with me.

Definitely NO tailgating at Dodger Stadium, which sucks!!

You can't tailgate at Dogder Stadium as previously mentioned, but there are a couple of local bars on Sunset Blvd (down the hill from the Elysian Park entrance). I usually hit up "Shortstop" which is the unofficial Dodger fan bar. They've got PBR for real cheap and its a bit of a dive bar and low-key. Right next door is El Compadre, really good mexican food and drinks before the game. A bit down the street is Gold Room which has happy hour drink and free tacos (slapped together, but taste pretty good).

The thing about these bars off Sunset, is that you can park for free along the street and hit up the bars, and then walk up to Dodger Stadium and enter via Field entrance. And with the renovations they are planning to make, you might not even have to hit up these bars to get the local feel (although I would still prefer it, just get there earlier).

I haven't been living in So Cal for about a year and half, so not sure how much things have changed.

By the way, can't wait for the Dodgers Opening Series in Sydney, I'll defintely be there!

Cheers

There is a Hooters in the parking lot in Anaheim. You can park there and leave the car during the game.

Hi John, I live in the area/ work very close to Angel Stadium!

For your first question...you can tailgate at Angel Stadium but you CANNOT tailgate at dodger stadium unfortunately :( I got ticketed for tailgating at dodger stadium a few years back.

Not sure on hotels in Pasadena.. you will be able to find different options in pricing for sure though. In Anaheim I would stay close to the ballpark...There is a Hilton suites very close.
