Later today, I am taking off on a five stadium in seven day tour. I am leaving Philly heading for Detroit. I will catch the afternoon Tiger versus Blue Jay game tomorrow at Comerica Park. I'll be sharing this experience with my two daughters. It is not their first game with Dad (a couple of Philly's games and many, many Orioles games - my oldest daughter's first game was the Orioles when she was five months old).

I'll be dropping the daughters off at Grandma's and heading around Lake Michigan to Milwaukee to see the Brewers versus the Nats. I'll be leaving Miller Park for Wrigley for the evening Cubs game versus the Cards. The next night, the White Sox versus the Mariners. I'll leave U.S. Cellular, head directly towards MI and stop back at Grandma's. Visit the family for a couple of days maybe adding the West Michigan White Caps to my MILB list.

On the way back to Philly, my daughters and I will catch the Indians versus the Yankees. I was hoping to add in the Pirates but the logistics with some home commitments ruled them out. Maybe next year a Pirates to Toronto or Cincinnati mini-loop.

I've seen Tiger and County Stadiums but never Miller Stadium or Comerica Park. Any Cleveland stadium will be new but Wrigley and both Old Comiskey and US Cellular (back when it was New Comiskey) are old friends since I lived in Chicago (Hyde Park) and spent many afternoons and evenings in those parks.

Little disappointed that I can't share Tiger Stadium with my daughters because it held some of my greatest childhood memories; getting to talk to Dick McCauliffe before a game and getting a personalized autograph, watching Mickey Lolich battle Jim Palmer, catching a Willie Horton foul ball, watching Norm Cash come out to the field wearing "windshield wiper glasses" after resumption of a rain delayed game and watching Al Kaline make a flat footed throw from the warning track to throw out a running by several steps...

Keep you up to date...

I love Comerica Park, but I've noticed a lot of people still mourn Tiger Stadium. Wish I could have seen it myself.
