I have received a lot of questions lately regarding ones ballpark count. Members are curious on if they should display the total number of ballparks they have visited (past and present) or only display the number of active ballparks they have chased. To answer the question, it is up to the member! We have Ballpark Chasers that display both ways so there is no right or wrong way to do it. For me personally, I like to display the number of active parks I have chased. This way I will only hit 30 once I have accomplished my life goal. At that point, I will start to display the number of past and present ballparks that I have visited.

Let me know if anyone has any questions or thoughts on this.

Happy Chasing!

I only do the current ones too, but there are plenty of long-time chasers. They're just luckier than us to have been able to go to other ones before they're gone. They should get credit for them!
I am going with the total #... plus Craig, you may not hit 30 just once. Take me for instance, I hit # 30 in St. Louis August 25, 2006... then again on June 20, 2009. When parks close and new ones open, that # will change if you only use current and if you have already hit 30, you will be doing it again. So I use my total # of parks I have seen. I suppose I could change it to read "30/41" :)
OK I think you have to go with total overall number. At one point in year 2005 till St Louis built there new one have achieved all 30 current ones. I have now 4 new ones to CHASE to bring my total overall lifetime to 41
41 with 4 more to chase would be 45 when I get them
I'd like it if you opened it up to include a posting for minor league parks... I'm up to 70, and they certainly make for easier road trips when you don't live in an MLB city.
I think you shoud incluse all pro parks. I'd list myself as:

11/24/77 - 11 Current MLB Parks. 24 total MLB Parks (I've been to more closed Parks than currently open parks?) And 77 total parks - to include the Majors, Minors, Independent and Mexican Leagues.
Yep, I list myself as 15/24/81 as I enjoy what the minor league ballparks add to road trips. Ok, truthfully, I travel for minor league parks and just collect the big league parks if they are on the way.
display? I don't list the number of parks with my name. This should be a fairly egalitarian society, right? I have no idea what those slash lines mean.

But if you ask me how many parks I've seen, I'm obviously going to include wrecked stadiums like Busch Stadium II. Watching ballgames in Stadiums of Yesterday is more of an accomplishment than seeing current stadiums.
