My trip for 2014 is planned!!! Now to get some hotel info, tourist things to do, must see places, and any ideas you other chasers have from your own trips/experiences. Going to Chicago, Milwaukee, and Minnesota mid July. So far besides baseball, also going to Mall of America and the Harley museum. Will be traveling with a 9 yr old and a 4 yr old, so clubs and nightlife is out. Also has anyone done the tour and slide at Miller Park??? I seen tickets for that were $100 per person. Seems kinda high but it is a once in a lifetime experience.

Hi Lisa,

I know you don't have a lot of time in Chicago, but something my wife and I did last summer that we thought would be truly amazing for kids is the museum of science and industry. They have a huge model train set that represents the metro Chicago transit all the way to Seattle, a chicken hatchery, weather science hands on activities and much more. We're both teachers and thought how cool that place would be for a field trip. Its located on the Southside but, but we took a METRA train there on a Sunday morning, then a cab over to US Cellular for a day game. If you google it you can get more info. In Minneapolis, we did a kayak tour of the upper Mississippi River which was cool, I'm not sure how it would be with the little ones, but they have tandem kayaks too. That company is above the falls sports if your interested. Anyway, have fun! Chicago is one of our favorite cities, probably because it feels a lot like New York.

Thanks Jim and Kirsten! Added Millenium Park and Chicago Style pizza to my must do in Chicago list, might not have time for much else, with only having a few hours and I don't want to get involved in a museum or aquarium and be late for the White Sox game. And our youngest isn't into amusement parks, it all really scares him yet, so no six flags or the like for us, although water parks he likes just fine so we may check one of those out besides the Nickelodeon park in the mall which we already planned on visiting. If anyone has any other suggestions feel free to comment. Where to sit in the ballpark, where to eat, anything. Thanks!

There's some pretty cool stuff to do around the river in Mnneapolis. The Mill City Museum and the parkland around the river was pretty cool. While I was there over summer they were talking about starting a tour down through the mill race channels and I was a bit crushed that I couldn't go do it right then. On the upside, I did catch another Twins game instead :-) I guess the kids would probably love it.

Your youngest might be a bit small, but they also do Segway tours around the city and the river departing from the St Anthonys side of the river, but the tour company might be able to work something out for you.

I was told, but didn't get time to check it out, that there are lots of canoe/kayak hire places around the city as well.

Chicago style pizza in Chicago was amazing.

Work with some of these sites. In Chicago I'd recommend Navy Pier, the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Millenium Park, and the Sears Tower. There's plenty to see in the city you'll have zero problem. Also have Vienna Beef Chicago style hot dogs and Chicago style pizza.

If you need any additional bits of information please let me know- I grew up minutes away from the Great America/Key Lime Cove area and you will have more than plenty to do and see. If you share dates I can let you know if other things are going on (Taste of Chicago, Milwaukee Summerfest, etc).
