Hello

Last night I was telling my wife that I need to take a break from work, but since I have a lot of leave saved up and she does not, we couldn't think of what I should do. I don't want to just sit at home and do nothing and I don't want to go on a nice vacation without her. She suggested that, since I am a huge baseball fan and we just moved to Miami a few months ago, that I should go on a baseball road trip. Since there are only 2 major league teams in Florida, that wouldn't have been much of a road trip. This past March, we went to a bunch of Spring Training games in St. Lucie (the Mets are my favorite team) and it was a lot of fun and I also really enjoy minor league games. So, I decided that I am going to go on a Florida State League (single A) road trip and visit every stadium. I think I figured out a plan that would allow me to see all 12 stadiums in 11 days (one doubleheader) as well as a Tampa Rays game (which would be another doubleheader with a minor league game). Best of all, the trip will have me end in St. Lucie for the final 2 games of the minor league season.

The reason I am writing is that I would like some help in planning this. I think I have a decent idea of the schedule (21 Aug - 1 Sep), but it is pretty aggressive and I have never done something like this before, so I would just like any words of advice that you might have. I am also nervous that any rain outs would completely ruin my plan. Since I am doing this right at the end of the season, I have left myself no wiggle room if any games get canceled. Because I am new to south Florida, historically, how often do games in the Florida State League get canceled in late August? Would somebody be willing to look at my itinerary to give any suggestions?

Thank you very much in advance!

Eric

P.S. I am new to this website, so I posted this in the wrong section the first time

I just wanted to say that sounds like it should be a fun trip. I have never been to Florida in August(been there each month from Nov to June in various years , never in July to Oct) , so I can't answer you questions on rainouts. It would seem to me that unless a tropical storm or hurricane is in the area, it doesn't rain long in Florida and the game most likely will be played.
Although on one my of my trips it rained in Kissimmee for 20 minutes or so around 5:30 and they cancelled the 7PM game(that was in May I think). I just drove down to Lakeland and caught the end of their game.
This is one of the "easiest" leagues to do since the stadiums are all relatively close. Also a league that usually has plenty of tickets available.

Mix in some Gulf Coast League games too...Went to one last year and was the only person there (generally played early in day). You definitely have a chance of rain but I wouldnt worry about it too much.

Went to one FSL game in Pt Charlotte. Fun stadium.

Eric,

Sounds like a great plan. I am in Jupiter and attend both Jupiter Hammerheads (marlins) and Palm Beach Cardinals (cardinals) games. Roger Dean stadium is a great place to watch a game. If i can help you , let me know.
