Safety At The Ballpark: Is Expanded Safety Netting Necessary?

Recent injuries at MLB ballparks have renewed discussions of expanded safety netting at the major and minor league level.  Some have suggested netting from dugout to dugout while others have taken it one step further and would like to see netting from foul pole to foul pole.  A class action law suit by an Oakland A's season ticket holder contends that Major League Baseball has been negligent in terms of guaranteeing fan safety and has demanded further safety netting.

2014 Ballpark Road Trip (Any Suggestions?)

The wife and I just finalized our 2014 ballpark trip.  We are flying from Kansas City and flying into Indianapolis.  We only have 4 nights from May 9th-13th.  From there, our itinerary is...

Day 1:  Drive from Indianapolis to Louisville.  Go to Churchill Downs for live horse racing.  Then, finish off the night by going to a Louisville Bats game.

Day 2:  Visit the Louisville Slugger museum/factory and take the tour.  From there, drive to Cincinnati and watch the Reds…

It's always been one of my top life goals to see my team, the St. Louis Cardinals, win a championship live and in person. A World Series Championship would be the ultimate, but I always said I'd be just as happy to see a Division Championship or the National League Pennant clincher. There is something about seeing a truly historical moment for your team in person that seemed like the ultimate in sports fandom to me.
