There isn't much to say, would love to visit every park, but realistically I would just like to visit a park every time I get a chance.

I grew up initially with the cavernously grotesque Municipal Stadium in Cleveland, rooting for the inept Indians teams of the mid to late 80s. The only saving grace was, I was young enough that even though I knew they were awful, I loved baseball enough that it didn't matter. I could go to a game and then make believe in my back yard for hours about how I was on the Indians and immediately made them better. Fantasy aside, the park was pretty huge for baseball, and made to seem all the bigger with the paltry crowds in the park. My favorite memory in Muny was during Nolan Ryan's farewell season my mom got me tickets to see him pitch.

Then came the Jake. Jacob's field came along with a bright shiny team to propel it and ticket sales through the roof, these were great times, even if still heart-breaking. I had the opportunity to sit in many different locations in Jacob's Field (now Progressive Field) and loved every angle of the park. Whether it was loge seats or bleacher seats, there are lots of great views for baseball in that stadium.

In my adult life, my greatest regret was while at Ohio State, I did not make the 1.5 hour trip down to Cincy to visit the ballpark down there, and now I live much farther away. However, my wife and I ended up in Texas for a while, but I hadn't yet realized that visiting all the MLB ballparks was something I wanted to do. Sure we went to a couple Rangers games in the Ballpark at Arlington, and I enjoyed them a lot (though, it was incredibly hot as always down there).. but I didn't take advantage of being close(ish) to Houston.

Then my wife joined the Navy as a musician and she was stationed in Newport, RI. So, I thought to myself, "I have to get to Fenway while we are here." Sure I hate the Red Sox, almost as much as I hate the Yankees, but Fenway, is ... well it's just Fenway. You walk into that stadium and you just instantly feel like watching a baseball game. That was about when it hit me "I want to see what other stadiums give this feeling, or at least, hit upon it, even just a little. So, luckily for me this past year, for Navy Fleet Week in NYC, Navy Band Northeast played the National Anthem at Citi Field and I got to see the Mets play on Memorial day. Really enjoyed that park.

We got to Fenway another time (for free, as NBNE played the anthem for a NYY v BOS game) and made a trip down to Baltimore (as part of a crazy weekend where the wife auditioned for the President's Own Marine Band). I loved the ballpark at Camden Yards, and would love to get there again.

The Nationals park is up on the list to come as is some of the other east coast ballparks. I never had dreamed that this would become something that I would want to do, but I'm going to give it a try, even if it happens slowly, and most parks that I visit, I get to visit because they are part of a longer trip. (we visited Tropicana on the way down for a vacation in Southern Florida.. gotta admit, that park is as bad as most people say).

And that's it. Looking forward to getting some more baseball under my belt, and buying some more ball caps! (I like to buy caps of the home team.. as long as they aren't one of the teams I really dislike)

Stephen,

It's neat to have seen all the ballparks, but it's neater to still have the fun of visiting them ahead of you. Looks like we're heading into an extended period with no new ballparks opening, so you have plenty of time to work on the current list. Savor the experience.

Stephen,

It took my son and I over 10 years to get to all 30. That includes seeing new stadiums in that list. So good luck on your travels.
