I attended the inaugural Hall of Fame Classic in Cooperstown on Father's Day Weekend. It was a baseball fan's dream. With the likes of Bob Feller, Brooks Robinson, Ferguson Jenkins, Paul Molitor, Phil Niekro, Jeff Kent, Bill "Spaceman" Lee, et al, there were the makings of a "classic" weekend. I almost forgot to post a link here to my blog entry. If you're interested, check it out at Roger's Baseball Blog.
I've uploaded some pictures and put some thoughts on my blog related to the new Yankee Stadium in The New Cathedral of Baseball. Yes Ken your right, very little new history has been made there (with the exception of giving up 14 runs in an inning), however, this cathedral pays homage to the storied franchise that has won almost a quarter of the World Championships played. This is a tough thing to say for a Mets fan.
OK, so I'm done again. Picked up #41, the new Yankee Stadium (the true Cathedral of the religion of baseball) last night. I'll be writing more about it later. But once again, my quest is complete until the new stadium opens in Minnesota next year.
The Mets officially opened Citi Field last night and I was there to participate in the festivities. If you are interested in my experiences, they can be found at "Citi Field is Now Officially Open". I'd also like to hear from any Mets fans that have visited Citi Field and what they think about the new home of the Mets - I express my opinions in "OK Mets Fans - wha… Continue
Well, as I said in my last post, I have started a blog, Roger's Baseball Blog, with the intent of sharing baseball experiences. I think of myself of more of a baseball traditionalist and in that vein, my latest post, "My first opinion piece - why do you go to a baseball game?" intends to spark some discussion about the focus of a visit to the ballpark. Take a look and l… Continue
whenever u want to send me the rankings go ahead. i based my rankings on stadium appearance and atmosphere, food, parking and accessibility, value, and staff for each club. Thanks.
Yeah sorry Roger, I think I confused you with another ballpark chaser. As you may have seen I am writing a novel in here that will rank the ballparks. I sent out and received lots of them sent back with their 1-30 rankings of the ballparks as they stand this year. If you are interested in continuing on with this, you will receive credit fo helping the book rankings out.. Everyone's rankings will determine what the 1-30 stadiums will look like by combining them all together.
That is wicked you have been to all the ballparks, I am writing a book on all the stadiums, and am looking for ratings from people who have been to all 30 current. I am givng those people credit in writing if you are interested
Hey Roger! I am headed to Citi Field on June to see the Mets vs Rays on the 19th, was curious if you can tell me where at the park the big Homerun Apple is so I can get a pick of that. Thanks!
The Quest is complete (for now)!!! My 39th stadium, Nationals Park, completed the quest to attend games at all of the 30 active baseball stadiums. The bonus was getting to see my Mets defeat the Washington Nationals 4-3. Delete Comment
Well this last weekend was one to remember. Saturday we were on hand to witness Pedro and the Mets through a combined one-hitter, the 33 in Mets history (I’ve seen several of them) against the Rockies. The question is will the Mets ever throw a no-hitter? Time is running out at the big Shea.
Sunday marked the return of the multi-city day/night doubleheader. First it was off to Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia to see the Phillies take on the Diamondbacks. Met killer, Pat Burell, hit a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 8th to help lead the Phils to a 6-3 come-from-behind win. Then the race was on to Shea stadium to catch the Mets hosting the Rockies again. This time Mike Pelfrey pitched a gem and with the help of Joe Smith combined on the second of back-to-back shutouts. The Mets offence produced 7 runs, a welcome surprise. Now to the All-star break.
I've actually seen games at 38 MLB parks so far. The only current one left is Nationals Park. I've also seen games at several minor league parks, Doubleday Field in Cooperstown and even the Nagoya dome in Japan. I've even played catch on the Field of Dreams.
