Opening Day 2013: Marlins vs. Nationals (April 1, 2013)

April 1, 2013 - UHG! Opening Day and another baseball season.....April Fools!

Opening Day 2013 at Nationals Park, the Miami Marlins vs. Washington Nationals, a "Daddy/Daughter Opening Day".

Sofia, four years old, attended her 3rd consecutive Opening Day and it's amazing to see her grow up through the lens of the ballpark.

Nationals Park

We went to a Nationals vs Orioles game on Sunday, May 20th 2012 with my husband Derek and his brother and sister in law. It was very easy to get to the park. Metro stops literally in front. There are also parking lots nearby. Ours was literally in left field, which provided a strange backdrop during the game. The main entrance is through the outfield. The presidents…

Game Dates Set for Blind Baseball Traveler 30-30 Tour

Days after I wrote the update to my 30 ballpark, 30 day plan, things began to finally come together. I had to make a final set of schedule alterations, but the blind baseball traveler is now 55 days from the ultimate baseball dream.

I’ve managed to also make arrangements with a few teams so far to see the field, particularly in the outfield where the ballparks have their personality or lack thereof.

Seats for all but four teams have been purchased, with the Cubs, Nationals, and…

Visiting Nats Park - July 2011

The best way to come to Nats Park is by subway Green Line, to Navy Yard station - closest entrance to the park is at the back end of the train, coming from Chinatown/Gallery Place and L'Enfant Plaza.  However, the opposite entrance, at M Streets and New Jersey Avenue, is much less crowded after the game, so walk over there rather than trying the closest entrance.  If the game has been crowded - everyone staying to the end and/or a strong attendance to begin with - it may be easier to walk North… Continue

It's not over until it's over...or is it?

June 23, 2011: Attended the last game of the Mariners vs. Nationals series, a game that the Nats came into with a cool .500 record.  Here was their chance to break into a winning record, something they have not done since 2005.

The game went into the 9th tied at 0. Laynce Nix pinched hit for Pitcher Tyler Clippard and hit a sacrifice fly to left field scoring…

2011 Father's Day weekend at the O's vs. Nats (June 18 & 19)

June 18 & 19, 2011: What's better than a baseball game on Father's Day? Spending the Father’s Day weekend with your daughter at the ballpark.

Sofia and I spent Saturday and Sunday (mom joined us for the Father's Day game) at Nats Park to watch the Beltway Series. We had hoped to see the Nationals sweep the Orioles, but rather saw them split the games we…

A wedding, but no game.

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of traveling down to Viera, Florida for a family wedding.

The church were the ceremony was performed was right next to Space Coast Stadium, were the Washington Nationals play in the spring, and home of the Minor League Brevard Manatees. The team was on the road, so no games were being played, but i will be back in the spring.

My Trip to Nationals Park

It was a Saturday afternoon, and I was in Greenbelt, Maryland on some business that never took place, due to circumstances that were apparently way beyond my control. So, with my business plans for the day up in smoke, I decided to take the rest of the day, and go sightseeing. One of the places I knew that I wanted to go was to Nationals Park, being that Washington, D.C. was only 15 minutes from where I was in Greenbelt. So, off I went to see one of the newer ballparks in MLB, at the tender age… Continue
