My son and I have been gone off the boards for awhile. Fortunately and unfortunately we had to move from the East Coast to the West Coast. Fortunately while doing so we were able to chase for 6 weeks to about 25 different minor league parks. This included International League teams all the way down to Rookie Leagues and some Independent League games as well. Which brings me to my question to the site.

Has anybody gone down to Venezuela for baseball? Specifically Venezuelan Summer League. I am interested in going down there just to see specific team organized sites, i.e. Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, etc.

I am aware of the violent nature of the country and I am prepared to deal with any scenario as such. Have any of you been down to games and experienced the crowds, the difference of culture, etc. Most importantly how many "bodyguards" is too much.

Anyway let me know your thoughts.

Hi guys,

I am currently touring the Mexican Pacific League in the states of Sinaloa and Sonora. The US Government warnings for the area are frankly pretty terrifying, but the Australian travel advice is simply to exercise a high degree of caution.

My approach on how I researched the area before making a decision about whether or not to go is here - http://gettingtoboston.wordpress.com/2013/10/29/those-security-conc...

Hopefully you find it useful.

Cheers,
K
