Kansas City and Baseball History.

I took advantage of the long weekend to take a trip to Kansas City and St. Louis. The trip also served as an opportunity to meet my girlfriend’s family so we killed two birds with one stone. Kansas City is a beautiful city but I didn’t like having to pay 50 dollars for a cab to get to our hotel. Kauffman Stadium is also far from the center of the city so I recommend you bring your own car or rent one if you plan to spend a few days there.

I liked Kauffman Stadium and I was surprised… Continue

Citizens Bank Park and Rocky!

Philadelphia was our most recent destination, stopping by Citizens Bank Park to watch the Phillies and the Twins do a little interleague battling. The trip was really cheap ($18 roundtrip) because we got a great deal on bus tickets from DC to Philly. We got there a little early and got a chance to go to Independence Hall and to see the Rocky statue at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. There was a long line of people waiting to take the picture with the bronzed Rocky but it moved very quickly and… Continue

Camden Yards and the Strasbug debut.

We went to Camden Yards on Sunday and had a great time. The park is located in the middle of downtown Baltimore so the areas around it are really nice. There are plenty of bars and food options outside the park at very good price and the Orioles are really good about letting you bring food to the park. Once we got inside, the park was packed with Red Sox fans. It gave me flashbacks of when the Red Sox came to Nationals Park and the place sounded like Fenway Park, more on that later.…

Toronto and Pittsburgh

I had a great time during the weekend as we made our way to Toronto. It took us close to 12 hours to get there, when you include a stop in Niagara Falls. By the way, that place is amazing and Ashley and I had a great time there. Toronto is an amazing city and after spending a night there, i was ready to pack my bags and move there. The city is so clean and beautiful with tons of tall buildings and the people are really nice, i guess Canadians like to live up to their friendly… Continue

Game 4: Citi Field

My first visit to City Field was very fun. My girlfriend and I decided to take the bus there and back on the same day and that worked out great. We got to New York with enough time to grab some food and head to the park and it was pretty easy to get to the stadium by train.

Johan Santana was pitching for the Mets so I was really looking forward to this game. I had been to Shea Stadium before but this was my first time seeing the new stadium. I really like it, it reminded of Camden… Continue

Game 3: Homecoming (of sorts)

What a crazy weekend! between the failed car bombing, the oil spills in the gulf and a busted pipe that left Bostonians without water for days, it seem like the bad news would not end. On the positive side, i flew to New Hampshire this weekend to spend some well needed time with family and to make my first journey to Fenway Park.

Even though i grew up a Yankees fan, I have been watching Fenway Park in awe for years. I have always found the design of the park so unique and memorable.… Continue

Game 2: Yankee Stadium

There is one thing you can say about Yankees fans; they have a lot of passion for their team. I have been to the new and old Yankee Stadium before but I never paid as much attention to the fans as I did this past Saturday. I must have counted a least 20 fans sporting Yankee tattoos in the time it took me to get into the stadium. I have a hard time imagining that there is anything walking around with the Nationals curly W tattooed on their body, that kind of passion doesn’t exist in this city… Continue

Game 1: The Magic of Opening Day.

Well, nothing says opening day like metal detectors and pat downs. With the President in attendance the lines were a little longer and Eric and I barely made it in before the first pitch but it was great. Opening Day in baseball is a wonderful time of the year, when hope springs eternal and every team still has a chance. The weather was perfect too, God must be a baseball fan.

We don't get too many sellouts at Nats Park, so it was a great feeling because the place was packed. The sad… Continue
