I'm working on finalizing this year's trip. I have it down to 2 itineraries, both packed to the gills (per normal). Question I'd ask is who's been to Cooperstown? How long did you spend there? Was it long enough? What do you think the perfect amount of time to spend there is? I think I spent a good 2-3hrs at the Slugger Museum in Louisville.

Road Trip Option #1 (7 games in 4 days, 2 states, 2 countries)

4/27 - Fly out 11pm

4/28 - Arrive in Detroit at 6am. 11:35 game in Columbus, OH. 7pm game in Detroit

4/29 - 1pm game in Detroit. 6:30pm game in Toledo, OH

4/30 - Drive to Toronto -- 7pm game

5/1 - 1:35pm game in Akron, OH. 7pm game in Cleveland

5/2 - 9am fly out

Road Trip Option #2 (5 games in 4 days, 3 states, 2 countries)

4/27 - Fly out 11pm

4/28 - Arrive in Detroit at 6am. 11:35 game in Columbus, OH. 7pm game in Detroit

4/29 - Drive to Toronto -- 7pm game

4/30 - Drive to Cooperstown, arrive by 12pm. HOF 12-5pm. 7:05 game in Rochester, NY

5/1 - 7pm game in Cleveland

5/2 - 9am fly out

Thanks!

Doug

Just remember that crazy downtown traffic on the I-94 leaving COMERICA is nuts at rush hour. This is a quality jam-packed trip. Good travels

Doug - gonna hold you to that, cause you're right, I kinda did :) Then again, the trip with Chuck might fall through, so I dunno just yet what I will be doing for sure this summer... hope to know by mid to late March.

Ken - Heck, you'd already booked the whole summer by the time we had dinner! :) We'll have to look at schedules this next year.

I'm debating about the HOF. I have 2 Tigers games planned, but I could just as easy trim one to hit Toronto a day earlier to do the HOF. The nice thing is that I have a flex day in there to account for possible rain-issues. I usually try to leave a flex day per trip.

Ditto - Give yourself three times as much time than the Louisville Slugger Museum (I didn't particularly enjoy my tour there) but loved Cooperstown (and I, of course, did not plan for enough time there). Check out Doubleday Field while you are there. Enjoy your trip!

I agree, give yourself a lot of time at the Hall--at least 4-5 hours. The museum is a big time capsule of baseball history, and when you get into the Hall itself you will want to read every single plaque. If anyone is going with you who isn't a baseball fan, leave 'em at the hotel.

I went right after Ripken and Gwynn were inducted, and it was so cool to see two players that I loved to watch play there with the ranks of Ruth, Williams and Mays.

I second Ken's comment about the Hall of Fame. I haven't been but have heard from numerous friends that a day wasn't even long enough! When I go I am going to plan on 2 days so I feel content and not like I have to go back.

1st off... when are *WE* gonna do a trip?? lol ;)
2nd - the HOF, as much time as you possible can! I have only been there once, and I was there for just over 4 hours and I felt incredibly rushed! We saw as much as possible, but I still feel that we (my nephew Sean and I) were robbed on our visit cause it just wasn't enough time... did I fail to mention also we were parked in "15 Minute Only" parking across the street that whole time? Between that and a night game in Philly, maybe that's why we rushed lol :) But still, just over 4 hours and it just wasn't even close enough!
