Honoring James "The Orator" O'Rourke at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard

If you are in the Bridgeport, CT area, it's worth a stop to the Ballpark at Harbor Yard and check out the new statue to James "The Orator" O'Rourke. A great tribute to the long overlooked Hall of Famer. You can read more about the Unveiling and Dedication of the statue at my blog, The Baseball Stadium Connoisseur.

first few chapters of book "THE FASTEST 30 BALLGAMES"

I talk about each ballpark as it naturally comes in to the story during the streak chases. The 1st streak atttempt I did in 2008 had so much more drama I am choosing the stories more from that attempt but the record breaking 2009 will still have much weight in the novel. I wanted to discuss the traditions/ballpark experiences around one of them it was just easier to use that attempt. Besides Ken Lee did a great job updating my 2009 record chase and I am going to use his write-ups and add here… Continue

Target Field - Hints and Tips

I've had the chance to visit Target Field six times this summer and I'd like to pass along what I've learned in hopes of helping other visitors.

Getting there by Car

Major routes into Downtown Minneapolis:

- From Interstate 94 Westbound, take the 5th Street exit.

- From Hiawatha/55, use the 3rd Street exit.

- From Interstate 94 Eastbound, follow the signs [more info to follow]

Ballpark Chaser Newb

I never knew this site existed.

Like the rest of the members of this site, my ultimate goal is to visit all 30 ballparks within my lifetime.

One thing I wonder...

Would going to demolished AND replaced stadiums count as one or two?

I am from New York, and I my current count on this site does not count Shea stadium and (old) Yankee stadiums.

Stadiums I have been to (without pictures):

Podcast Up Today -- Give it a listen!

My friend Jesse has an ongoing podcast that I was a guest on this week. We talked all things MLB (w/a big focus on the Mariners), NCAA Football, and an NFL prediction show. I think it turned out pretty good. Give it a listen if you have time! Skip the first minute, it's a media snippet. http://goo.gl/fb/kfppf

It was fun to do, I hadn't been on before. He'd wanted me on for awhile but I just hadn't had the time until today. Let me know what you… Continue

Here are my plans for LABOR DAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH...(modest plans compared to Meg's Japan trip!)

A friend and I plan to get to WASHINGTON on Monday (Labor Day). ANY NEAR-BY RESIDENTS THINKING OF GOING? (Let me know please!) Then, on the way home, we hope to hit PHILLY for the night game. There are a couple of 'Chasers going to be there too. (Gary has that day/night… Continue

A SECOND LOOK AT RANKINGS FOR EACH PARK

I must admit that there is a a need to really consider asking for a re-do on the ballpark rankings with a more definitive criteria list. Thanks to Gary Herman for asking thought provoking questions that had me brainstorming all day on how to run with this. I think the ballpark chasers did a decent job in their initial rankings (as proof that about 75% of our list of THE rankings were within 5 spots of where the FORBES list was). However, since we have some new chasers added this year--and a new… Continue

MARLINS NEW BALLPARK-Marlins’ profits came at taxpayer expense

direct link of article...

i copied and pasted for all to read

The swindlers who run the Florida Marlins got exposed Monday. They are as bad as anyone on Wall Street, scheming, misleading and ultimately sticking taxpayers with a multibillion-dollar tab. Corporate fraud is alive and well in Major League Baseball.

FURTHEST EAST-'BOS'/-FURTHEST WEST-'SEA' CHASER GUIDES

BOSTON RED SOX

FENWAY PARK BOSTON MASSACHUSSETS

BALLPARK CHASER RANK-3RD

GETTING THERE

BOSTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT is a short distance of 6 miles from Fenway Park-but once again you must give yourself plenty of time to make it to the park in gridlock traffic. The car rental facilities are a good shuttle bus distance of a few miles from the airport. The I-90 Highway includes a toll and a tunnel----this is a faster way but you must focus on taking your right exit,… Continue

WASHINGTON/BALTIMORE BALLPARK CHASER GUIDES

ORIOLE PARK AT CAMDEN YARDS

BALLPARK CHASER RANK 10TH

GETTING THERE

You have options from several different ways. If you are flying into to ‘BWI’, make sure you give yourself ample time to drive anywhere.

BWI is a strong hub for both SOUTHWEST AIRLINES AND AIRTRAN AIRLINES. The prices are very convenient with both carriers and many early morning non-stop flights are available for under a hundred dollars-particularly anywhere in the EASTERN SEABOARD CITIES or the STATE… Continue

UPDATED BALLPARK RANKINGS FOR BASEBALL NOVEL

NEW OFFICIAL BALLPARK CHASER RANKINGS

I am writing the novel as we speak and it donned on me to change the rankings because of the NEW/OLD YANKEE STADIUM differential when you put the rankings of the NEW PARK as opposed to the old STADIUM. THE YANKEE STADIUM that closed in 2008 would have ranked 2nd overall-instead NEW YANKEE STADIUM will get the ranking of 13th overall as rated on by 15 chasers rankings who have been to all of the parks.

BALLPARK EATS, IN, OUT, OR AROUND THE GOOD OLD YARD

Hey everyone !!! It's been awhile since I've been here. As for my Dodgers, it hasn't been quite the year I was expecting. Anyways, as we all know, especially you fellow ballpark chaser, food, especially road eats, is as much a part of our national pastime as the great game of baseball. And lately, I've been snapping some shots of some good eating, be it in, out, around the old yard, and be it before, during, or after the game. So I thought I'd share with you some pics that I added in a new… Continue

Rockies Business Model

I say the Rockies will be lucky to win big under their current model. They don't buy any big stars, so their bench and pitching will always be thin. Star power--even just a little--equals rings.

Looking for Cleveland fans to attend a game

Hi all,

I'm going to be in Cleveland this weekend, and I'd like to check Progressive Field off my list of ballparks to visit. I'm planning to go to the Sunday afternoon game (8/15). Is anybody in the area going to the game? Any suggestions on where to get seats? I'm from San Diego, so I'm used to getting tickets fairly easily. Is that the case in Cleveland too?

A wedding, but no game.

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of traveling down to Viera, Florida for a family wedding.

The church were the ceremony was performed was right next to Space Coast Stadium, were the Washington Nationals play in the spring, and home of the Minor League Brevard Manatees. The team was on the road, so no games were being played, but i will be back in the spring.
