Stadium Journey Names Best Baseball Stadium 2009

My site, Stadium Journey, has just published its list ranking the ballparks of MLB for 2009. Take a look when you have a chance. What park is too low, or too high?

The Impossible?

I am simply amazed by what this guy has done. To see every possible baseball match up, home and away is just unreal! Congratulations to John Salvo and his accomplishments. I wish he was on this site to share his stories. See link below...

Our New 2010 Road Trip Schedule....

Been meaning to post this for a while. I got an email from Chuck that said he wanted to make a few changes to the schedule cause he hates having a day of vacation where he doesn't get to see a game/ball park and I fully agree! So below is our new schedule and a few stats about it...

June 22 – Drive from Lacey to Denver

June 23 – Red Sox vs Rockies @ Coors

June 24 – Red Sox vs Rockies @ Coors

June 25 – Cardinals vs Royals @ Kauffman

IT WAS A FUN RIDE, BUT THIS ENDING REALLY HURT......

As I, an avid Dodger fan, write this, I still fathom the fact that instead of sharing my thoughts at this moment, I could be at Dodger Stadium at this very moment getting ready for Game 6 of the NLCS. But no, it was just not meant to be. And another fun season of Dodgers baseball , for the 2nd straight year, is ended abruptly by the Fightin' Phils. But unlike last year, this one really hurt. Not that last year didnt. No, I did not enjoy the sight of the Phillies celebrating in front of me in… Continue

Family's 30 MLB Ballpark tour benefits the Women’s Sports Foundation's GoGirlGo! Program

Roberto Coquis and Judy Pino visited all 30 MLB ballparks this summer with 8-month old baby, Sofia Coquis, in tow. They dubbed their tour "30 Ballparks and a Baby" and created a website documenting their experiences. During the tour they collected baseball memorabilia from MLB teams and supporters to be auctioned off for charity and have partnered with the Women's Sports Foundation's… Continue

My Trip to ALCS Game #4

The Big A, a sea of red, rally monkey dolls, thundersticks, a monument to Nick Adenhart, bad umpiring calls, footlong italian sausages, Sabathia's strong 8 innings on 3 days rest, and more. We went to last night's ALCS game and it totally rocked! There were so many of us NY fans throughout the stadium, cheering on Jeter and the boys. The best was seeing most of the depressed Anaheim fans with their annoying thundersticks leave in the 7th inning when the score was 5-1. No rally monkey sightings… Continue

Just because I am a Yankees fan

Doesnt mean that I agree with how the economics of baseball are way out of whack. I was talking with a few other Canadians about the MLB and thought of a radical new change in division re-alignment that may finally end the disparity between all ball clubs having a chance to make the playoffs each year. Much like soccer it would kind of be a tier system. Scheduling and travel wise it makes a lot more sense. For those hardcore fans I would also make each team play at least 2 games against every… Continue

the 1st streak attempt chapter 1

I decided to forego the doubleheaders scenario for now to concentrate on the streaks. I will also save the pre-streak writing for the actual novel itself.. Let us get right to the streak chasing because it has the juiciest content by far....

DAY 1

GAMES 1 AND 2

WED JULY.02/2008

MINNESOTA 12:00 PM/CHICAGO WHITE SOX 7:11 PM

METRODOME/US CELLULAR FIELD

Adventures in the Astrodome -- a sneak peek into the fabled yard

The Eighth Wonder of the World still stands, though it has seen better days.

The Astros moved downtown and the Texans football team have massive Reliant Stadium, which towers over the first-ever domed stadium.

There’s a lot of Mets history in that dome, including what one author called “The Greatest Game Ever Played,” Game 6 of the 1986 National League playoffs.

So I figured I’d head over and just walk around the outside, taking some photos. The Texans wanted $8… Continue

Silly Metrodome Similies

The dome is like your girlfriend's cat, it's really scratchy but it you have to deal with it.

The dome is like your favorite brand of beer - it tastes great but no one else will even try it.

The dome is like Tim Pawlenty - full of hot air and totally out of work in 2012.

The dome is like your old couch - had some great effing times but now it smells.

The dome is like Kevin Costner - really horrible but associated with baseball… Continue

Playoff predictions

Time to go on the record with my playoff predictions. I'm kind of rooting for a Dodgers-Angels freeway series but I think we're heading for a Yankees-Cards W.S. and I'm not a fan of either of these teams.

NLDS
Cards over Dodgers in 4
Phillies over Rockies in 5

ALDS
Yankees over Twins in 4
Angels over Red Sox in 5

Cards over Phillies in 7
Yankees over Angels 7

Yankees over Cards in 6

PENNANT CHASE MEMORIES.....1985 NLCS....TWO OF THE DARKEST DAYS OF MY LIFE AS A BASEBALL FAN

Oh it's that most wonderful time of the year again, and I'm not talking about Christmas . Baseball in October !!!! And for the 2nd straight year, the Dodgers find themselves champions of the NL WEST, this time doing it with 95 wins, their most regular season victories since 1985. Ironic because in 1985 it was the Cardinals who would face off against the Dodgers in the NLCS. It was the first time that the LCS had gone to a best of 7 format since it's inception in 1969 when it was best of 5. The… Continue

DOUBLE HEADER SCENARIOS FOR BOS, NYY, TB AND BAL CHAPTER 3 CONT'D

REMEMBER THESE ARE BASED MOSTLY ON SEEING EVERY PITCH-BUT I HAVE ADDED SOME CLOSE CALLS THAT THOSE NOT LOOKING TO SEE EVERY PITCH BUT KNOCK OFF A STADIUM 2 TIMES PER DAY CAN DO. THESE ARE DOUBLEHEADER POSSIBILITIES I HAVE RESEARCHED. SMALLER AIRPORTS IN A FEW OF THESE DOUBLEHEADERS ARE GOOD BECAUSE SECURITY IS QUICKER IN TINY AIRPORTS WITH ONE OR TWO JETWAYS!!

BOSTON DOUBLE HEADERS PARTNERS ARE: NEW YORK YANKS, METS, BALT, PHILLY

SUNDAY

NIGHT GM

Goodbye Metrodome

As a native Minnesotan, I'm looking forward to the MN Twins' move to the outdoor ballpark. Target Field will be a major upgrade... minus the snow in April and October. (Yes- the Twins play in October sometimes...)

Here is a really good article that captures all of my favorite memories:

CHAPTER 3 CONT'D(SHOWING OF THE DOUBLE HEADER POSSIBLIITES) THIS IS JUST TORONTO-

Double headers were the key to beating the streak. I knew this well. I spent about a hundred hours online searching every scenario for every city. I am lucky enough in my pizza delivery job I am able to go on call after eight at night. I have about ten hours of down time a week waiting for late orders. I applied this time to come up with this list.

This is a list based on a master flight schedule from every city of America that had a possibility to arrive at a Major League baseball City in… Continue

PENNANT CHASE MEMORIES

For many of us, we are approaching the most exciting part of the season. And like me, I'm sure many of you have plenty of stories to tell of past exciting pennant chases. And with the Dodgers closing in on their 4th playoff appearance in the last 6 seasons, it's easy to understand why many of us here in L.A. are filled with Blue Fever. Of course, we all know that the excitemet in many cases starts before the season even ends, with teams still vying for that ever so elusive playoff spot. One of… Continue

2010 Road Trip planned!!

Since MLB announced their 2010 schedules the week of September 15th, it was time for all of us "Ball Park Geeks" to sit down and start planning our 2010 Baseball Road Trips. 2010 will be very different than I had originally pictured it. I only need to pick up Target Field in Minneapolis to (re)complete having seen all 30 current MLB ballparks. I had planned a quick run over to Minnesota for a game, or two, then back home. I got to talking to Chuck Booth about it a while ago and we decided to… Continue

DREI'S AAA TRIP.....PGE PARK, PORTLAND OR

My final stop on my ballpark tour of the Pacific Northwest from 9/2 to 9/4 I would find myself in PGE Park, home to the Portland Beavers, the Padres AAA affilliate.

Photobucket

PGE Park , in the way it's incorporated, is, if there could be such a thing, Dodger Stadium and Wrigley combined. How you may ask ? Well, as for the… Continue

DREI'S AAA TRIP..... CHENEY FIELD, TACOMA

Photobucket

Cheney Field has been a springboard for many MLB players in it's 50 years of service. Players such as Gaylord Perry, Juan Marichal, Mark McGwire, Alex Rodriguez, to name a few, once honed their skills here before the bigs. Cheney Field is currently housed by the Seattle Mariners AAA affiliate Tacoma Rainiers. If you walk… Continue
