Phreebies (from the Ballpark Insider Blog)

I compiled a list of the Theme Nights that the Philadelphia Phillies will be holding at Citizens Bank Park in 2010, and how to get discounted tickets and other nice Phillies related stuff. Each of them has a promotional code that you enter when you're buying tickets for a discount.

Friday, April 16 is Irish Heritage Celebration Night, where each fan receives a green hot dog...ok, not really. But there will be Irish delicacies (Does that mean Irish potatoes? Man I love them without… Continue

2009/2010 MLB Season

Dear Ballpark Chasers,

Baseball is finally in the air, but it feels like just yesterday that the New York Yankees inaugurated their new Yankee Stadium and then beat the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2009 World Series. Yankee Stadium was not the only new ballpark to open last season, or in New York for that matter. Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, also opened its doors.

The Florida Marlins and the Minnesota Twins also had some exciting ballpark activity in… Continue

"Wasted Trip"... NO MORE! :)

So after some research and coming up with a way to present it to my wife that made sense, I can say that my "Wasted Trip" is wasted no more! I talked my wife into letting me fly back East a few days ahead of her. In doing so I will make a stop in Minneapolis (actually in and out of Milwaukee, even with the added gas fee, cause I would have got a car anyway, it was still about $100 cheaper) on my way to Baltimore. In MPLS I will catch 2 games at Target Field, July 18th & 19th (vs the White… Continue

I just lost one notch in my belt

Bummer, I had to change my status from 18 current stadiums visited to 17, due to the HHH Metrodome no longer active. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it all the way out to Target Field this year, but hopefully I can get out to at least one new ballpark this season to continue progressing forward. Onward !!!

Wasted Trip?

So every trip I do is booked around the MLB schedule (this annoys my wife, but are you kidding me? Of course I am going to consult the schedules). However, a trip I will be doing in July, well, I don't wanna call it a "Wasted Trip", but it sure is a big ole bummer. See, my nephew Sean is getting married to his amazing fiance Nicole on July 23rd in Mystic, CT. My brothers kids are as close as I will ever come to having kids, so when Sean called me to tell me he was getting married and asked me… Continue

Taking Kids? Add Amusement Parks

Since you're out there anyway - especially with pre-teen/teenage kids - may I suggest joining both the Ballpark AND Amusement Park visitor cults.

In most cases ballparks and Amusement Parks are relatively near each other and the "quest" to go on all available roller coasters can be as addictive as the need to get to games.

In our case both are inextricably linked.

Our past trips as example: (starting when my sons, Ian and Evin, were 10 and 9… Continue

Forget Pete Rose, WE should be in the Hall of Fame !!!

Though it's clear that there are a lot of us with this baseball road trip passion, has anybody ever approached MLB about getting some form of recognition for those who do reach the milestone of getting to every Major League Park?

It seems like something they would consider - we're certainly demonstrating a comitment to their product, we're dropping big bucks in their coffers and we're doing something as quintessentially American as - well "...baseball and apple pie...".

I actually… Continue

Beware of obstructed views at Target Field

I ran across this list of obstructed views at the new Target Field. Beware when you buy your ticket!

Here are the released obstructions so far:

• In Section 101, near the right-field foul pole, fans in lower-numbered seats (1 and 2, etc.) from rows 25 through 40 have a wall blocking parts of their outfield view. Those seats cost $32 for most games, $37 for premium games.

• In Section 139 (right field bleachers), some seats have a limited view of the outfield… Continue

Special Weekend

In celebration of my wife Shawn Marie's birthday weekend - I am running a matching program for all donations to her memorial fund for donations received thru Sunday. The fund benefits the SADS Foundation with 100% of all donations being directly utilized by the foundation for their work in spreading awareness about SADS. I have attached the link to my website that has details on the memorial fund and a very special photoshow.

This Saturday I will be at Steinbrenner Field to see the… Continue

Baseball Movies/Shows (TV Is Missing A Big Opportunity!)

I'm sitting here enjoying Major League, which I always find myself digging out at this time of year. The fact that I'm heading to Cleveland in April makes the movie that much more fun. There've been countless posts over the years about which baseball movie is the best. Which one is your favorite? Which one is the most realistic? Who's the best baseball actor in a movie? Really the list goes on and on. The thing I've really noticed over the years though is that TV is missing a giant opportunity.… Continue

2010 All-Star Game tickets

Anyone know when the all-star game or HR Derby tix will go on sale to the non-season ticket holding general public? I can't find anything on the Angels site, except for all-star celebration activities, which I'm not really interested in attending, except for the actual game or HR Derby. They are way too expensive on StubHub, etc...

I'm going back to Cali...

So the wife and I planned a trip to Disneyland with some friends and their kids for this coming August. Over the past week or so I have been looking into driving to LA, even if just by myself. As it turns out, I will be going solo. That worries me not. If you're gonna be driving and you're gonna be in town when there are games being played, seems silly not to take in said games, yeah? I FULLY AGREE! So here is what I am looking at:

August 17th:
Depart Lacey, WA @ 4am (no later… Continue

Finally going to Fenway...

My wife and I are planning a trip to Boston this summer and we are going to catch a Red Sox game. Ive never been to Boston or Fenway Park and Im not sure what to expect. So I need your help... I plan on buying tickets before we leave but what is a good section to sit in for a newbie to Fenway? Dont want to spend my whole life savings but willing to spend. What are somethings I need to check out before, during and after the game? No matter where I sit, will I have access to the whole park to… Continue

All 30 in one season - Again

Last season I accomplished the goal of seeing an official MLB game at all 30 MLB ballparks in one season. I met so many wonderful people and had some really great experiences. This season I am going to do all 30 again only I am partnering with the Sudden arrhythmia death syndromes (SADS) foundation in raising awareness as well as money for the Shawn M DeVries Memorial Fund which benefits the SADS foundation. Each year over 350,000 people, many under the age of 30, die from SADS related heart… Continue

Just three weeks to my first of four baseball roadtrips this season

Down to Tucson. It's supposed to snow (showers and flurries - not a storm) for the next five days here so it will be a nice reprieve to be down in AZ for an extended weekend. I'll be seeing a lot of tourist stuff, as well.

Tickets to First Series at Target Field

I'm very excited to be able to go and represent Stadium Journey to do a review of Target Field as part of their first series against the Red Sox. Now let's just hope it doesn't snow. Does anyone have recommendations for bars or restaurants near the park?
